BlizzCon won’t have any...

Earlier this week we received some news that, if we are being perfectly honest with ourselves then we knew it was coming. BlizzCon 2017 will not have any new Diablo announcements.

The first thing that tipped us off was the official announcement of the BlizzCon 2017 key art.

While the characters all appear to come from the entire current Blizzard lineup, they may simply be there to represent other games. The games that we believe will be the focus of this year’s BlizzCon are Hearthstone, Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm. With the opening of the Blizzard Arena in the L.A. area, it only makes sense to focus this event on the games that could and would take full advantage of that space.

Sadly, Diablo is not one of those games. The image of the female Necromancer, we believe was meant to be a distraction. Our hypothesis is also that there may be no significant StarCraft announcement. We know what you are thinking, “There’s a probe in the key art!”. There sure is but that’s Probius the little hero from Heroes of the Storm!

However sad this news may be, we sure are glad that Blizzard gave us the heads up. It would have been a huge disappointment to be there and not get any new announcements. While there won’t be anything new, there will be plenty of Diablo related panels and swag.

We’ll have our boots on the ground! So be sure to keep a look out for all things BlizzCon come early November.
